In 1996 a group of families saw an unmet need for day services and programs for young adults with special needs that focused on opportunities for continued learning and community experiences after graduating from school. During that time, this group of families created PAL (Partners in Adult Learning) through Clearbrook in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
PAL is an adult day program, located in Rolling Meadows, for clients that experience significant physical challenges who actively seek opportunities to be part of their community and to grow as individuals. As you might imagine there can be many obstacles when serving these unique individuals. The costs of special vehicles for transportation, assistive technology, 1:1 staffing, and other variables can prove to be complex for this special group. The PAL Program is incredibly unique as it incorporates an array of opportunities for community-based experiences, intellectual stimulation, and learning. The clients explore personal interests, develop communication processes, enhance their self-esteem, and give back to the community through Acts of Kindness.

This organization provides dolphin therapy for special needs kids and veterans. The experience they afford their visitors leaves them not only with memories but wanting to return yearly.
